Dubai Silicon Oasis Gives Back to Environment on World Earth Day

Dubai-UAE: 23 April, 2014 – Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA), the regulatory body for the integrated free zone technology park, commemorated World Earth Day today.

As part of the celebrations, DSOA employees joined hands with the tenants and staff of the community to plant Ghaf and Semmer trees within the Dubai Silicon Oasis premises. Saplings were also distributed among the tenants.

Members of DSOA’s senior management and staff attended the tree-planting ceremony that articulated DSO’s CSR strategy launched in 2012. The strategy highlights DSO’s three main pillars: environment, human capital and community.

Adnan Al Bahar, Vice President, Marketing and Corporate Communications, DSOA, said: “At Dubai Silicon Oasis, we believe that the well-being of the environment is the responsibility of every individual on this planet. As part of this priority, DSO is committed to integrating sustainability standards across all our developments. Our activities designed around the World Earth Day give us an opportunity to reiterate this core message among the extended community.”

Annually, April 22 is celebrated as World Earth Day by over a billion people from 190 countries across the world. DSO’s Earth Day 2014 initiative complemented the UAE’s efforts to plant trees that are indigenous to the region and vital to the sustenance of the desert eco system.

Dubai Silicon Oasis is a wholly-owned entity of the Government of Dubai and operates as a free zone for semiconductor, microelectronic and other high technology-based companies looking to set up their regional headquarters and research and development (R&D) facilities in the Middle East and North Africa region.
