McDonald’s UAE and Emirates Environment Group join forces in spreading green values among the UAE’s children UAE, Dubai, 15 March 2015 - McDonald’s UAE, with the support of the Emirates Environmental Group (EEG), continues to promote the dedicated ‘Planting a Greener Future’ campaign, with Murashed School for Girls, Fujairah, and the latest to participate in the initiative last week. In an ongoing effort to improve communities and highlight the continuous environmental benefits of their actions, McDonald’s UAE and EEG have completed five of seven total planned government schools across the UAE to date. McDonald’s UAE Management and the EEG team including Vice Chairman of EEG, Mr Abdul Aziz Al Midfa’a, assisted 25 students and ten teachers from Murashed School for Girls to plant a total of 50 assorted Ghaf, Flame, Neam and Samar trees, teaching children the importance of maintaining a green lifestyle and exemplifying the ways in which the campaign was helping the environment. Walid Fakih, General Manager of McDonald’s UAE attended the activity morning, noting McDonald’s UAE to take “great pride in the ‘Planting a Greener Future’ campaign and all it delivers to our community. The promotion of the endless benefits of maintaining an environmentally friendly lifestyle is a duty we endeavor to carry through to youth throughout the UAE. We look forward to finalizing the final three schools and sharing the fantastic results the campaign has had as a whole.” Mrs. Fatima Mohammad Suhail, Principal of Murashed School for Girls offered her gratitude, saying “On behalf of the students and staff of Murashed School for Girls, I would like extend my sincere thanks to McDonald’s UAE and the Emirates Environmental Group for their support and generosity throughout the ‘Planting a Greener Future’ campaign. We are honoured to have participated, and look forward to enjoying the endless benefits this project will offer our community.” The project involves the schools being ‘made-over’ by replacing 1000sqm of normal soil for Sweet soil, implementing a full-fledged irrigation system complete to enhance the growth of a freshly laid grass area in each location, and planting a selection of indigenous tree species. With schools in Dubai, Ajman, Sharjah, Umm Al Quwaim and Fujairah complete, the next school anticipated to participate will take place in Ras Al Khaima on a yet to be determined date.
