Al Ahli Holding Group's Gold's Gym UAE's Fat to Fit Challenge 2014 champions pocket AED 120,000 in prizes

Hemanshu Sharma took home the grand prize of AED 50,000 at the Gold’s Gym Fat to Fit Challenge Finale as the winning male member notching up the greatest fitness gains. Nataliya Kunytska won the field in the female member category, also scooping a grand prize of AED 50,000. The exciting Grand Finale for the 60 day challenge was held on December 6, 2014.

Wissem Cherni won in the non-member male category, while Rama Mazen Al Hanafi came in first in the non-member female division. Both took home prizes of AED 10,000 each.

Gold’s Gym Fat to Fit Challenge kicked off earlier this year on September 28, 2014. Contestants were given 60 days to register fitness improvements such as fat loss, muscle gain and performance across a circuit challenge.
Nearly 2,550 people registered for the challenge, and 120 finalists were shortlisted based on muscle gain and fat loss results 60 days into the competition. Contestants were supported in their quest for fitness by regular nutrition seminars and fitness events.

“The idea of the Gold’s Gym Fat to Fit Challenge is to reward members for fitness gains. Never have the rewards been greater - our winners have taken home a combined AED 120,000 in prizes. But it’s certainly not just about the prizes. What’s important is that we’ve created a community where people work towards getting fitter and support one another. There’s also the element of friendly competition. The end result is a complete change in lifestyle that really increases quality of life,” said Chief of Operations, Nitesh Seebran, Gold’s Gym UAE.

The Grand Finale was attended by all 120 finalists and their families, Gold’s Gym staff, sponsors, and a crowd of interested spectators from the general public. The Finale saw contestants being put through their paces in a rigorous Circuit Challenge involving treadmill runs, sandbag squats, renegade rows and skipping rope. The circuit was designed for fitness gains, irrespective of body mass and composition.

Through the duration of the challenge, female member winner Nataliya Kunytska lost 8.4 kilograms of fat, and male member winner Hemanshu Sharma dropped 5.9 kilograms of fat. In total, among all the participants, 1,099 kgs of fat was lost and 148 kgs of muscle was gained during the 60 day Challenge.

The Fat to Fit Challenge was supported by sponsors Slim’n Lite, Sneak Pix and Break Through.
“It is heartening to see the enthusiasm with which people responded to the Gold’s Gym Fat to Fit Challenge. Thousands took up the fitness baton, and worked hard. Our 120 finalists registered visible changes in tone and fitness. And the support from the community and sponsors was fantastic too. Gold’s Gym wants to spread the message of a healthy lifestyle to combat problems of ill health, diabetes and obesity in UAE society. Events like this are certainly the way forward,” Seebran concluded.
