This year’s UAE National Lifeguard Championship witnessed 28 teams of lifeguards that included approx 150 men and women, who competed at the UAE’s 9th National Lifeguard Championship at St Regis Saadiyat island. Launched for the first time in 2006, the event has grown into a landmark event for lifeguards in the UAE. This highly competitive event demanded the lifeguards to participate in 6 challenging events which include a 1km Beach Run, Swim / Run / Swim, 400m Surf Swim, 120m Rescue Tube rescue, Beach Flags and 90m Beach Sprint Relay. The Lifeguard team at Le Meridien Al Aqah Beach Resort proved their excellence and expertise and were crowned the 2014 winners and champions.
