March 4, 2014 Dubai, UAE: Using a dishwasher can save a lot of time, and despite what people may perceive, it is also cleaner compared to washing by hand. One of the explanations for this might be that dishwashers are able to clean at higher temperatures than hand washing. While users who handwash do wear gloves to use the hottest water available, this still might not be near the 60°C a dishwasher can provide. Another reason handwashing may be less hygienic than dishwashing is that sponges encourage bacteria and can spread onto kitchen utensils. Bosch has supported various such scientific studies to demonstrate the positive benefits of using a dishwasher. Once such study was carried out by The Bonn University and supported by Bosch, in which the focus of their research was the cleaning habits of dishwasher users. The study concluded that water consumption reduces by three to four times when using a dishwasher when compared to handwashing. The study also found that, washing in a dishwasher tends to be more effective and more hygienic than by hand. Depending on a programme selected, appliance hot water reaches temperature up to 70⁰ C throughout the wash cycle. Another study supported by Bosch was based on hygiene by the ‘University of Louisville School of Medicine’ showed an average bacteria count of 1 per plate for machine washed dishes, compared with an average of 390 per plate for dishes washed by hand. Besides hygiene, water consumption, energy consumption was another key factor to consider in the study when observing cleaning habits. It was found that a dishwasher uses the same energy no matter what was loaded, whereas washing more items by hand meant more energy consumed depending on the amount of hot water used. Commenting on the studies, Georg Kazantzidis, Director Marketing & Business Development, Bosch Home Appliances said, “Hygiene is an important topic with people especially in the kitchen. Starting from the kitchen sponge to the tea cloths, these studies prove that using a dishwasher not only saves precious time and energy but also ensures proper sanitation. Bosch regards responsibility of people, society and the environment as a guiding principle for product development and innovation.” Bosch features the latest super-efficient dishwashers which ensure reduced usage of water and electricity consumption. The advantages of owning a Bosch dishwasher are numerous; not only is it more hygienic than handwashing and saves on water consumption, but it is great in reducing energy consumption too with the latest Green technology. With ActiveWater technology, customers can now save up much more on energy. Based on the program, Eco 50, the ActiveWater Eco2 Dishwasher is 37% more economical than the qualifying rate for energy efficiency class A (as per European regulations). This is because the rinse system uses every drop to the fullest by faster heating, better filter technology, enhanced pump efficiency and targeted water circulation. Furthermore, Bosch dishwashers now come with a ‘Half load’ feature which reduces the time it runs and up to 30% less water is consumed when loading the dishwasher with half of a normal load. With this improvement, customers can now purchase a dishwasher without worrying about filling up the entire space; thus now catering to smaller households too. In addition, Bosch also has an innovative water tank which ensures minimum water consumption per cleaning cycle - only 6 liters in the standard program and great hygienic cleaning. Bosch Home Appliances in cooperation with Finish, one of the leading brands in the dishwashing industry, aims to deliver the best ‘shine’ and ‘ultimate clean’. Starting March 1st, customers will receive a gift card of up to AED 700 when purchasing selected models of Bosch dishwashers.
