Middlesex University Dubai, the leading provider of British higher education in the Gulf region and the first overseas campus of the internationally renowned Middlesex University in London, celebrated its 8th Annual Graduation Ceremony at the Atlantis Hotel, Dubai on the 26th of October 2013. The graduation ceremony welcomed over 1900 guests. More than 500 students, out of the 800 graduates in 2013, attended the ceremony. Academics and dignitaries, including Middlesex University London Vice Chancellor Professor Michael Driscoll, DeputyVice Chancellor Research and Enterprise Professor Waqar Ahmed and Professor Raed Awamleh Pro Vice Chancellor Middlesex University and Director of Middlesex University Dubai, government officials , senior executives from top multi-national companies, members of the faculty and students attended the grand ceremony. Top graduates achieving the highest academic average in their school were presented with awards sponsored by Tag Heuer, the main sponsor of the ceremony. Students awarded include; Ms. Nasibeh Mohsenzadeh (Business School), Ms. Mathushani Vijayakumar (School of Science and Technology), Ms. Wafa Sadiq (School of Media & Communications), Ms. Anam Chohan(School of Social Sciences, Politics and Development), Ms. Julia Jaufmann (School of Tourism & Hospitality) and Ms. Susie Andersen (School of Health and Education). The ceremony witnessed the graduation of more than 500 students, who attended along with their friends, families and close relatives. The number is considerably higher compared to the campus's first graduation in 2006 with only 8 graduates. It rose to 48 students in 2007 and 153 in 2008. The increasing numbers signify not only Middlesex University Dubai's rapid expansion and popularity, but also the increasing demand for higher education in the country. The total count of students that completed their studies from Middlesex University Dubai now exceeds 3000. The Middlesex University campus in Dubai, which opened in January 2005, now boasts well over 2800 students from 90 countries studying across undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes ranging from social sciences, psychology, journalism, arts, business and information technology. Middlesex University Dubai is an integral part of Middlesex University London, subject to the same rigorous quality assurance procedures that have earned Middlesex the highest possible endorsement from the UK's Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education.
