Students are at the centre of everything we do at Murdoch University's Dubai Campus, which is why the university will host a grand celebration for this year's graduating class together with their families, classmates, alumni and corporate guests. The graduation celebration will take place on November 9th at the Zayed University Convention Centre in Dubai International Academic City. Murdoch University, one of Australia's most impressive universities focusing on academic excellence and research, will celebrate the graduation of 142 undergraduate and postgraduate students at its fourth annual graduation celebration. This year's celebration promises to be exciting and memorable with Mr. Robert Hillier and Mr. Jeff Price as masters of ceremonies. They are both Murdoch faculty members and are U.A.E's leading Radio and television personalities. The senior leadership team from Murdoch University in Perth and Dubai attending the event include; Dr. Andrew Webster, Dean of Murdoch University Dubai; Dr. Max Sully, Academic Dean and Mr. Daniel Adkins, Academic Director. Some of the many distinguished attendees on the guest list include; chief guest and keynote speaker Mr. Loay Ragheb, Head of Wealth Management and Group Benefits at National Bonds Corporation; His Excellency Gerard Seeber, Australian Consulate-General in Dubai; Dr. Ibrahim Moosa Jamel, Director of Dubai Knowledge Village; Ms. Wessen Rawazik, Quality Assurance Manager for Knowledge and Human Development Authority, Government of Dubai and Mr. Pankaj Savara, Regional Director of Western Australia Trade Office - Middle East. In honour of Col. S.P. Wahi (Retired, Indian Army), the author of Leading from the front and former Chairman of ONGC, which is one of the largest Asia-based oil and gas exploration and production companies, Murdoch Dubai will present the Col. SP Wahi Leadership Award, which is awarded in recognition of a student who has shown remarkable leadership during their studies. The recipient of this prestigious award is to be announced at the graduation celebration. In keeping with tradition Dr. Ibrahim Moosa, the Director of Dubai Knowledge Village will present the DIAC Excellence Award to this year's postgraduate and undergraduate valedictorians - Ms. Melissa McMinn and Mr. Vladyslav Kalinin. Mr. Vladyslav achieved a Higher Distinction in all his units and secured a position in the top 2% of Murdoch students worldwide enrolled in a bachelor's degree, as such he was awarded the prestigious Vice-Chancellor's Award for Academic Excellence and a full tuition scholarship to complete his Honours degree at the Perth campus. Later in the evening, the Murdoch Alumni Association will host a celebratory function to mark the rite of passage from university to the bigger world. Mr. Hassan Murad, former soccer player for the U.A.E national team, will address the alumni community during the reunion dinner. Mr. Murad, is a proud graduate of the Murdoch MBA class of 2010 and is the President of the Murdoch Dubai Alumni Association and the current Head of Planning for Dubai Municipality, Government of Dubai. As the graduation celebration is a significant milestone for students at Murdoch University Dubai, the university will leave no stone unturned to ensure they have a memorable day. On this joyous occasion, the entire Murdoch University Community extends hearty congratulations to the graduating class of 2013 and their families.
