TunisianaCelebratesAdoption of Ooredoobrandwith Expanded Sponsorship Programme to Promote Human Growth through Sport

Tunis, Tunisia

Tunisiana today announced a major sponsorship agreement with four of Tunisia's top football teams – Club Sportif Sfaxien (CSS), Club Africain (CA), Etoile Sportive du Sahel (ESS) and Esperance sportive de Tunis (EST) – as the company continues to invest in sport at all levels to promote human growth.

The sponsorship is particularly note-worthy as it will be the first time the company uses the Ooredoo logo across all elements of a major sponsorship programme, to celebrate the shift to its new brand.

Ooredoo is adopting the new brand globally between 2013 and 2014, and the move to “Tunisiana Ooredoo” marks a major step forward for the Tunisian operation. As with Ooredoo's other major sporting sponsorships, this agreement – which will run until 2016 –places strong emphasis on the creation of new opportunities for young people as well as the development of the professional game.

As part of the agreement, the Ooredoo logo will feature on the front of the teams' shirts and be seen at each team's stadium. Throughout the advertising, Ooredoo will be introduced as “Tunisana Group Ooredoo”.

H.E. Sheikh Abdullah Bin Mohammed Bin Saud Al Thani, Chairman, Ooredoo, said: “Ooredoo has adopted an integrated approach to sports sponsorship, which aims to leverage our partnerships with leading clubs and national champions to deliver more opportunities for young people. This ambitious sponsorship programme announcement by Tunisiana demonstrates that we support sport in all our markets, and that we support the positive influence that sport has within the community. Ooredoo is all about enabling young people to realise their dreams and ambitions, and football provides important inspiration in this area.”

The players will make their first appearance wearing the team-shirts sporting the Ooredoo logo at the launch of the 2013-2014 National Championship, during the CSS vs. CA match in Tunis on Wednesday, 25 September, the ESS vs. USM match in Monastir on Thursday, 26 September 2013 and the EST vs. CAB (Club Athletique Bizertin) on Wednesday 26 September 2013.

Tunisiana'ssponsorship of CSS,CA, ESS and EST is the latest in a run of major sporting announcements from Ooredoo in 2013.

Earlier in September, Ooredoo announced that it would sponsor the 2012/2013 Ligue 1 Champions, Paris Saint-Germain. As part of the sponsorship, Ooredoo and Paris Saint-Germain will launch a community coaching programme across Ooredoo's footprint in the Middle East, North Africa, and Southeast Asia that will include football clinics for young people.

In addition, the company has chosen football icon Lionel Messi as their global brand ambassador and are working with the Messi Foundation on an international programme of mobile health clinics.

Kenneth Campbell, General Manager of Tunisiana Ooredoo, said: “Locally, nationally and internationally, Ooredoo supports sport at all levels, because we are as passionate about sport as our customers are. It's a source of great pride for the whole team in Tunisia that four of our leading clubs now carry the Ooredoo logo alongside Paris Saint-Germain, and that they will engage in the same kind of community programmes that we support with stars like Lionel Messi.”

As well as football, Ooredoo sponsors a broad range of sport and health promotion activities across its footprint. Most recently, Ooredoo sponsored the 2013 Jeux de la Francophonie (“7th Francophone Games”) in Nice, France.
