Dubai United Arab Emirates - November 14, 2019: “Be Kind” is not just the name of Zayed Water’s holding company, but the mantra that its founder, Emirati philanthropist, Omar Abdulla Khalfan, lives by.
Khalfan’s inspiration for Zayed Water is the late His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and his aim is to align the vision and message of Zayed Water with the legacy of kindness and generosity that the Father of the UAE is renowned for.
Spreading the message of kindness and generosity was the mission when Zayed Water participated as the drinking water and kindness sponsor at the Beat the Heat – Medical Olympics, a sports tournament held at the University of Sharjah Medical Campus.
To effectively reach out to each of the 4,000 medical students attending the sports tournament, Zayed Water engaged 50 student volunteers, shared with them the compelling values of Zayed Water and equipped them with the talking points, enabling each volunteer to effectively spread the message of kindness and generosity, as they distributed the drinking water to all participating students.
“Did you know that 633 million people lack access to clean water. Without clean, easily accessible water, families and communities are locked in poverty for generations. Children drop out of school and parents struggle to make a living. We’re deeply touched by the response we received from Sharjah University’s medical students. The volunteers’ willingness to support us in spreading the message of kindness and the values of Zayed Water was truly inspirational. We managed to speak to the students about Zayed Water’s four pillars which include, our charity mandate, furthering the legacy of His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, having an impact in communities that need it the most by funding the building of 1,000 water wells around the world over the next 5 years, and the quality of Zayed Water which is naturally enriched with essential minerals and contains only 0.0001% Sodium.” Khalfan commented.
After being introduced to the market in May 2019, Zayed Water has already taken the first step towards its 5-year target. In September 2019, Zayed Water donated Q2 and Q3 profits to Emirates Red Crescent to fund 12 water wells in 7 countries - Sierra Leone, Niger, Togo, India, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. The kindness and generosity of the University of Sharjah Medical Campus will go towards funding more water wells and positively impact the lives of children and parents, improve the quality of hygiene and sanitation, and also provide water for agriculture and livestock farmers.
