United Arab Emirates, Dubai - 12 May 2019: Esol Education’s new flagship US school, Dunecrest American School, offering a standards-based American curriculum, has received authorization to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme® (IBDP) in record time. The authorization process, which typically takes between two and three years was received by Dunecrest just eight months into the school’s first year, reflecting the deep expertise within the school’s leadership team, and the Esol Education organization’s long-standing experience of delivering the IBDP for over 25 years. As an IB World School, the philosophy of the IBDP is embedded into Dunecrest’s education program as all students embrace active and compassionate life-long learning. Every student is encouraged to develop these characteristics through the 10 attributes of the IB Learner Profile and tackle international-mindedness by helping to solve the challenges that lay ahead for the world. “We are incredibly proud to have received the IB authorization in such a short period of time, thanks to the dedicated efforts of our exceptional curriculum team. Educators the world over understand that the IB is the most challenging school exam for high school students, and longitudinal research has shown that IB students are significantly more likely to attend a top 20 university, demonstrate a better performance, and are more likely to achieve first class honors degrees, and go on to earn higher entry-level salaries,” said Mr. Bill Delbrugge. The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) aimed at students age 16-19 in Grades 11 and 12 focuses on developing students who have excellent breadth and depth of knowledge and flourish physically, intellectually, emotionally and ethically. Recognized and respected by the world’s leading universities, the curriculum is made up of six subject groups as well as the core subjects: Theory of Knowledge (TOK), Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) and the Extended Essay.
