Hilfiger’s guests included Gigi Hadid, Hailey Baldwin, Uma Thurman, Aziz Ansari, and Luke Evans, all wearing ‘Tommy Hilfiger.’ Tommy and Dee Hilfiger attended the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s 2016 Costume Institute Gala on May 2, 2015 in New York City to celebrate the opening of “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology.” The exhibition explores how fashion designers are reconciling the handmade and the machine-made in the creation of haute couture and avant-garde ready-to-wear. The evening was co-chaired by Idris Elba, Jonathan Ive, Taylor Swift and Anna Wintour. Guests seated at Tommy Hilfiger’s table included Tommy Hilfiger brand ambassador Gigi Hadid; model Hailey Baldwin; actress and model Uma Thurman; actor, comedian and author Aziz Ansari; Welsh actor and singer Luke Evans, all wearing Tommy Hilfiger. “The MET Gala is one of New York’s most impressive red carpet events each season, and this year is an incredible celebration of fashion in the age of technology,” said Tommy Hilfiger. “I have always loved to blend ideas and inspirations – whether it’s merging preppy heritage with rock-and-roll, reimagining a design through a new lens, or modernizing the classics with a fresh point of view. The fusion of handmade techniques and machine-made elements reflects the way I love to design and it’s exciting to be here to celebrate another fantastic season at the MET.” Gigi Hadid took over the Tommy Hilfiger Snapchat channel, sharing a behind the scenes look at her MET Gala prep, red carpet moments and after party celebrations. Dubbed a “social supermodel,” Hadid has been credited with reshaping the world of modeling in the 21st century and reinventing the role of the supermodel in millennial culture. Through the incredible reach of her social media channels, she connects with fans around the world – over 17 million on Instagram alone – and offers them a unique, behind-the-scenes glimpse into her lifestyle as a trend-setting style icon.
