GIANFRANCO FERRÉ. THE ARCHITECT OF FASHION. L´architteto Ferré. The Italian designer Gianfranco Ferré was known by this nickname in the world of fashion. It was a mark of recognition for an exceptional artist. The creator of a unique style, he combined his knowledge as an architect with a strict concept of elegance. Ferré stated that ‘The construction concept is the same. Architecture is a search for solutions in shape, volume and colour. Just like fashion.’ After successful collaborations with other Italian creators, Ferré created his own brand starting with a women’s collection in 1978, and following with his men’s collection in 1982. He won immediately recognition as one of the great figures of Italian design. His elevated status in the world of fashion allowed him to launch in 1986 his first High Fashion collection, the Italian equivalent to Haute Couture. Like Gianfranco Ferré’s fashion, the design and packaging recreates a gradual application of colour and plays with light by means of metallic shimmers. THE BOTTLE The bottle’s silhouette draws pure, architectural lines that create a clean and masculine bottle, with a contemporary and classic design. The gentle curve of its top, wider than the base, recreates the masculine silhouette. The bottle’s thick chiselled glass is tinted in a black gradient of increasing intensity, like the runway designs of the great architect of fashion. Rising from a transparent base, inside which you can read the letters Ferré sculpted in relief, the lightly smoked glass increases its intensity in grays until it reaches a bold black at the bottle’s cap. The logo is printed in silver over the darkest part of the glass. The square cap, with layered pieces in translucent black and framed by fine silver outlines, gives it an air of sophistication and elegance. THE PACKAGING The case emphasizes the contrast between silver and black, seeking to evoke the masculinity and mystery that makes our man in black irresistible. A rectangular case, with a black base following a gentle curved line that echoes the shape of the bottle, gives way to a silver shiny space, where the logo appears in relief, with a glossy finish that makes it the absolute protagonist. Created by the ‘nose’ Olivier Polge, a Frenchman from the world perfume capital, the city of Grasse in Provence. He was awarded the Prix International du Parfum in 2009 for five of his creations.
