Dubai, March 24, 2015: The Middle East’s largest event for aluminium and allied industry, due to take place in Dubai next month, will have a strong German presence with 26 companies signing up as exhibitors to share the exhibition space under one pavilion dedicated to one of the world’s most industrialized and export-oriented countries.

Organized by Reed Exhibitions Middle East, Aluminium Middle East will be held from April 14 to 16 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DICEC) and will have participation of more than 200 exhibitors from 25 countries.

The previous show, held in 2013, had 25 German exhibitors at the German Pavilion which made its debut in 2009. The number of unique visitors at the 2015 edition is also expected to reach 4,000, a 14 per cent increase over the last edition, which attracted 3,523 visitors.

Held under the slogan ‘Forging Connections, Building Possibilities’, the exhibition will help the region’s aluminium industry reach a new level of extraordinary growth. It is the biggest specialized exhibition for the aluminium industry in the region that brings together manufacturers, producers, investors and service providers under one roof.

Daniyal Qureshi, Group Exhibition Director at Reed Exhibitions Middle East, said: “Europe’s major aluminium market is Germany with about 25 per cent of total aluminium consumption in Europe. Germany exports 40 per cent of aluminium production accounting for about 15 per cent share of the world’s total aluminium exports annually. Our exhibition will provide an excellent platform for German companies to network with regional players in various domains, including production, technology transfer and forge business relations for new growth opportunities.”

German aluminium producers and processors recorded a positive performance last year and the primary aluminium production continues to expand.

Between January and June 2014, about 566,000 tonnes of raw aluminium was produced in Germany. About 492,400 tonnes of primary aluminum and about 597,400 tonnes of recycled aluminum were produced in Germany in 2013.

Aluminium smelters, semi producers and aluminium foundries have increased their output last year, contributing to a positive economic trend. The use of aluminium will continue to grow in Germany. The expansion of the electricity grid and the use of renewable sources of energy  further lead to increased demand for aluminum in Germany up to 2020.

Detlef Maiwald, Managing Director, Innovatherm, a leader in the design, fabrication and supply of firing systems and fume treatment centres for anode baking furnaces, said: “The aluminium market in the Middle East has recorded above average performance and is today the second biggest growing market for aluminium production. As Dubai is the center of this market with an excellent infrastructure, it is the perfect place for an aluminium trade fair which makes the participation very interesting for Innovatherm.”

Innovatherm supplied over 230 fires on more than 80 different anode baking furnaces worldwide. In the Middle East, firing systems from Innovatherm are installed and in operation at ALBA, Dubal, EMAL, Sohar and Ma’Aden.

Stefan Horstmann, Sales Manager, GLAMA Maschinenbau GmbH, said the large number of primary producers in the Middle East makes this region most important for the company.

“The show offers us the possibility to present our new technologies and on the other side we get the customer’s feedback with regard to their future requirements. We are the leading supplier of state-of-the-art machinery for the Aluminium sector since decades and this is also our future incentive,” he added.

The Middle East and its aluminium industry are one of the key markets for Drache Umwelttechnik GmbH. The company’s Technical Manager, Georg Margraf, said: “It is essential for us to exhibit at ALUMINIUM MIDDLE EAST to maintain and extend our contacts to the local customers and show Drache’s activities in the region.”

ANDRITZ Maerz GmbH sees the exhibition as a must-attend event. Holger Schwarz, Head of Sales, ANDRITZ, said: “The decision to present both product lines BRICMONT and HiTeq has been justified by the successful sales of aluminium melting furnaces in the last few months. Especially for the BRICMONT products, furnaces with up to 180 tonnes of capacity are of great interest. The good experience of exhibiting in different countries together with Reed Exhibitions Germany makes the Made in Germany Pavilion a successful option for us.”

The UAE is the world's fourth largest aluminium producer, accounting for over 50 per cent of the Gulf's aluminium production. Nine per cent of total global primary aluminium production will come from the Middle East by 2020.

The worldwide demand for aluminium will continue increasing at an average of 6.5 per cent annually, according to the Aluminium Manufacturers and Producers Association (AMPA).
