Thai Ambassador, Kamal Vachani discuss food trade potential

Dubai : Thailand Ambassador to the UAE Warawudh Chuwiruch on Wednesday met with Al Maya Group Director Kamal Vachani and discussed ways to further enhance food and vegetables trade.

The Ambassador visited the Group’s Supermarket at Murooj Complex in Dubai and appreciated the Group’s role in promoting Thai food products in the UAE.
Among the Food products Al Maya Group is currently being imported are Pudding and Jelly, Glutinos Rice Flour, Jasmine Rice, Fruit Drinks, Gingen Ginger Tea, Seaweed Crisps, Fish Sauce, Sweet Corn and Coconut Milk from the Thailand.   Al Maya Group is keen to expand its products portfolio from Thailand, Mr. Kamal Vachani told the Ambassador. 

Al Maya Group, the UAE-based business conglomerate, has more than 40 supermarkets in the GCC countries in addition to other businesses.
In 2014, UAE was 5th largest import source and 7th largest trade partner for Thailand, according to Royal Thailand Embassy in the UAE. The UAE and Thailand two-day trade crossed $16 billion in 2014, according to Ministry of Commerce Thailand.

Al Maya Group is participating in the 20th edition of Gulfood, informed Mr. Kamal Vachani. Running from February 8-12, 2015 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, Gulfood 2015 is the biggest edition where tens of thousands of trade visitors are expected this year.
