International Oriental Academy in cooperation with Moscow State University of International Relations (MGIMO) and Moscow International Model United Nations Secretariat announces the opening ceremony of EMIMUN 2015 conference to be held on the 1st of February 2015 in Dubai Knowledge Village Conference Center.

Model United Nations, or MUN, is an amalgam of a conference and a role-playing game. It gathers students from universities and high schools, who simulate the work of the United Nations organs. Every MUN participant becomes a representative of a UN member-state or an international organization and defends its interests during the discussion of issues on the agenda of a chosen committee throughout the entire conference. The task of every committee is to write a resolution relating to a particular problem. Participation in MUN allows not only to get acquainted with the principles of work of the UN, but also to learn to analyze the political situation in the world, develop negotiation, compromise and public speaking skills.

EMIMUN is the first large-scale international youth summit held in the Gulf region on the annual basis. In 2015 it is going to be held for the sixth time, proving to be one of the most authoritative MUNs in the Middle East. Every year EMIMUN is covered extensively by both local and international media.

More than 200 participants from all over the world are planning to join the conference this year: among them student delegations from Russia, the USA, the UK, Czech Republic, Morocco, Philippines, Saudi Arabia and others. During EMIMUN 2015 6 committees will be simulated: Security Council, Human Rights Council, Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC), Economic and Social Affairs Council (ECOFIN), UNESCO Executive Board in English and the League of Arab States in Arabic. The conference offers a wide range of current and though-provoking topics for discussion - from “Threats to International Peace and Security Caused by Terrorist Acts” to “Discussing the use of alternative energy in order to decrease dependency on oil and gas production League-wide by 2025”

EMIMUN is made possible through the cooperation of the International Oriental Academy with members of the Moscow International Model United Nations Secretariat, composed of students of the Moscow State University of International Relations (MGIMO). This partnership reflects the unique atmosphere of the conference, which brings together future leaders from various corners of the world and provides them a platform for discussing the most urgent international issues.  Moreover, this year EMIMUN is supported by a fast-growing airline company - Flydubai.

Schedule and Media Access

The EMIMUN Secretary-General and Secretariat members, conference speakers and participants will be available for interviews after the opening and closing ceremonies or on request during the conference.
