Dubai, UAE, 08 November 2014: As part of du’s Every Step Counts national wellbeing campaign, three winners have been selected for their participation in the company’s social media health-focused competitions, which are designed to encourage healthier choices. The winners were presented with their smartphone prizes during a ceremony held at the company’s headquarters in Dubai Media City. Mahe Ram won the first competition, which invited participants to identify healthy snacks. Rusha Mahmoud’s inspirational story helped her win the competition that encouraged du Wellness App users to submit their fitness journey through which they helped their family or friends to adopt a healthier lifestyle. Her husband suffered from obesity that caused him minor heart problems, but refused to see a dietician when Rusha asked. She started going to a specialist herself to address her own issue of being a little overweight, and once her husband noticed the change in her he accepted the challenge and started taking care of his body. They both live a healthy lifestyle now. Mohamad Ali Al Ali submitted the winning recipe into a competition asking for the fastest and healthiest meal users could make. His suggestion was to make healthy chicken nuggets, using lean chicken, rolled in oats and then baked. This was truly an easy, healthy alternative to the popular fast food item, and exemplified that healthy eating doesn’t have to be boring. Mohammed uses his personal health transformation as an inspiration to others through social media, posting in both English and Arabic to encourage others to be fit and healthy. Hala Badri, Executive Vice President, Brand and Communications, du, said: “Our winners’ stories and contributions are representative of the choices we try to inspire the people of the UAE to make, through the du Wellness App and our Every Step Counts campaign. Making healthy changes, even small ones, can have a significant impact on your wellbeing, and we hope people will be inspired by Mohamad, Rusha, and Mahe.”
