Samsung Showcases KNOX2.0 ™ at 2nd Annual Gartner Symposium ITXPO with hands-on user experience

Dubai, UAE -March 31 2014--Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., will showcase the next evolution of its KNOX mobile security solution at the 2nd Annual Gartner Symposium ITXPO taking place on April 1st in Dubai, where the company is a sponsoring partner. This year’s symposium will bring together IT executives and CIOs from across the region to examine the convergence of mobile, social, cloud and information and how this is rapidly reshaping the way that business is done now and will be done in the future.

Since becoming commercially available in the market in October 2013, Samsung has sold over 25 million KNOX-enabled devices and has over 1 million active KNOX users today. In the Middle East the KNOX platform has seen tremendous demand from telecommunications providers, government institutions and private enterprise as an enterprise-ready solution that directly addresses the needs of BYOD in the enterprise network.
“Mobility and security are at the top of every CIO’s and IT executive’s agenda when it comes to the needs of the enterprise network. Industry leaders across the region have been quick to adopt the platform for their users, and customers,” commented Mr. Madhav Narayan, Senior Regional Director, Enterprise Business, Samsung Gulf Electronics ahead of the event. “As the sophistication of the cyber threat becomes more advanced and the eco-system of mobile applications becomes more diverse, the need for an evolving security platform on these devices becomes more pronounced. With the new features of KNOX 2.0, we are able to meet these ever-changing needs.”

KNOX 2.0 has evolved to provide an improved user experience. Users can now benefit from enhanced container features, such as support for most of the Android apps from the Google Play Store, meaning that there is no need to go through the wrapping process for third party apps. KNOX 2.0 also supports SE Android policy configurations for third party containers, such as Good’s secure container, Fixmo’s SafeZone, and MobileIron’s AppConnect so that these 3rd party containers will receive the same level of HW-based protection that the KNOX container receives. In addition to the core features of KNOX, Samsung also announced new cloud based services, KNOX EMM and KNOX Marketplace, broadening the KNOX customer base by catering specifically to SMBs.

During the symposium Samsung will be running a hands-on classroom designed specifically to allow participants to learn about the Samsung KNOX solution’s key features. The Samsung KNOX Learning Lab will be set up as an enterprise mobile network with full connectivity to the internet and the corporate intranet. Each participant is equipped with a Note3 device that is loaded with the KNOX 2.0 software and wirelessly connected to a Wi-Fi “Enterprise network”.
The KNOX platform has been adopted by major corporations in key developed markets, including the General Directorate of the Abu Dhabi Police. Abu Dhabi GHQ is the world’s first homeland security organization to adopt Samsung KNOX.
