Dubai, UAE; October 23, 2013; American College of Dubai, one of Dubai's leading institutions for US Transfer Programs, is hosting a free-to-attend seminar on the US University Admission Process on November 2nd at the College premises in Garhoud. Targeted at all students in the UAE wishing to study in the USA, the seminar will give participants a step-by-step introduction to the complex US college admissions process, explaining what they need to do, how to do it and when to start. The seminar will be held by Peter Davos, Managing Director of Carian College Advisors, a leading independent UAE-based educational consultancy focusing on American universities. The event, which will coincide with the administration of the SAT exam, will provide a comprehensive overview of US university admissions process. Davos holds degrees from Johns Hopkins, Oxford, and Harvard, as well as a post-graduate certificate in College Counseling from UCLA. Davos said: “US Universities are unique in that they assess candidates not solely on test scores and grades, but on their record of participation in extracurricular activities, volunteerism, and demonstrated leadership outside of the classroom. With over 4,000 institutions of higher learning in the United States, many parents feel overwhelmed with where to start in the process. So we have teamed up with American College of Dubai to help prospective students and their parents to understand the process better.” The presentation which will start at 9.00 AM on November 2nd is open to the public and all interested parents and students. Carian's team of American educational professionals (composed of former admissions officers) helps students navigate the complex waters of American university research, preparation, and application.
