The centre services a population of over 60,000 residents in and around the Nad Al Hamar area. United Arab Emirates, Dubai, July 8, 2013: The Nad Al Hamar health centre has begun providing patients with round-the-clock service, beginning July 1, 2013, said a top DHA official. The aim of the 24 hours service is to provide patients with access to healthcare and reduce the pressure of non-urgent medical cases that the centre receives. Dr. Ahmad Kalban, CEO of Primary Healthcare Sector at the DHA, said that the move to make the centre function round-the-clock is in line with the direction of H.E. Eng. Essa Al Maidoor, Director-General of the DHA. He said the aim is to enhance patient access to medical services and is in line with the DHA's strategy that includes a number of procedures to provide exceptional services to satisfy customers. Dr. Kalban highlighted the importance of this step that has been taken by the DHA to provide easy and accessible services to clients and will also help relieve pressure of emergency departments at DHA hospitals. He added that in April this year the DHA cancelled the “Registration and Booking System” and adopted a system of walk-in consultation for patients who require family medicine services. The move has reduced the waiting time and has also put an end to the problem of patients not showing up for their appointments. In terms of the functioning of the Nad Al Hamar centre as a 24 hour centre, Kalban said that the DHA has taken all necessary steps and has followed all protocols to ensure the centre provides round-the-clock services as per international standards. He said the centre provides services to over 60 thousand individuals residing in the area of Nad Al Hammar, Nad Al Shamma, Al Rashidiya, Al Garhoud, Ras Al Khor, Al Warqaa, Dubai Festival City and part of Mirdif area. The specialties at the centre include family medicine, gynecology, pediatrics, dermatology, nutrition, dentistry, chronic diseases, pre-martial testing, pharmaceutical services, and intermediate level urgent cases. Moreover the centre has an x-ray unit and regularly holds health awareness initiatives.
