Dubai, UAE, September 4, 2017: Dubai Electronic Security Center (DESC) hosted a graduation ceremony for the students that attended the “Online Safety Skills” summer camp, which took place on the 8th of August 2017. The program lasted for 3 weeks at the National Institute of Vocational Education located at the Dubai Academic City in collaboration with ICDL Arabia. The content of this camp was chosen as a result of the Center's keenness to build the awareness, skills and abilities necessary to manage the cyber security risks faced by individuals in cyber space. During the course, students learnt how to utilize the Internet and social networking sites effectively and safely. Additionally, students were empowered with important skills that will help reduce the risks associated with cyber space that they may experience in their daily lives. Mr. Yousef Hamad Al Shaibani, CEO of DESC, said that educating the community about the dangers of cyber space is an essential element of Dubai's cyber security strategy. The Center contributes to spreading awareness to all sectors of society in order to create a conscious society and thus create a secure cyber space. Mr. Jamil, Director General at ICDL Arabia, said We praise the efforts of DESC in the area of digital safety awareness among the younger generation and we are looking forward to expand our cooperation further and train a large and diverse range of age groups. The course concluded with the awarding of certificates and souvenirs to students who expressed their happiness for participating in the course, providing them with the much needed set of skills and capabilities in the electronic security field.
