UAE, November 7, 2016- Smart Dubai Office (SDO), the government entity officially in charge with facilitating Dubai’s smart transformation, has recognized the sponsors and government participants of its pavilion during the 36th GITEX Technology Week 2016. This year’s SDO-hosted 3,800-square-metre pavilion showcased innovative electronic and smart services being provided by 56 government and private entities, as well as other latest smart solutions, services and apps introduced in the emirate.

The ceremony at the InterContinental Dubai Festival City was attended by H.E. Dr. Aisha Bint Butti Bin Bishr, SDO’s Director General; H.E. Younis Al Nasser, SDO’s Assistant Director General and CEO of Dubai Data Establishment; H.E. Wesam Lootah, CEO of Smart Dubai Government Establishment (SDG); and the participating companies’ directors general, CEOs and work teams.

In her speech, H.E. Dr. Aisha Bint Butti Bin Bishr commended the participants for successfully demonstrating the benefits of using government innovations with thousands of GITEX visitors, who in turn shared their delight in the present efforts to make the local public sector highly connected and to transform the emirate into the world’s smartest and happiest city. The visitors not only interacted with the displayed modern tools but were also given a tour of specific areas in the pavilion where realistic simulations of living in a smart city in Dubai were showcased.

An influx of visitors from different countries visited the pavilion, all of whom became familiar with Dubai’s smart transformation efforts and its progress. She noted that the visitors’ average happiness score stood at a remarkable 95 per cent.

To bolster partnerships among various entities, some participating organizations also sealed more than 21 agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) during the event. Additionally, over 400 smart government services boosting smart living in Dubai were put on display. Visitors got to experience as well what it was like living in the world’s smartest and happiest city via a miniature model of such a city in the pavilion.

H.E. Dr. Bin Bishr said that the spirit of mutual collaboration and coordination among participating government and private entities during GITEX was highly valuable. H.E. added that this showed SDO’s and SDG’s commitment to bring happiness to Dubai residents and make life in the emirate safer, more efficient, seamless, and impactful through the use of modern technologies.

A short film highlighting various vital achievements during GITEX was shown during the ceremony. The footage featured the pavilion’s most important accomplishments, including the MoUs and agreements signed between government entities and their partners as well as the public’s interaction with some displayed smart services.

The ceremony concluded with H.E. Dr. Bin Bishr and H.E. Lootah honoring the sponsors and government entities that joined in this year’s SDO-hosted pavilion.
