Dubai, UAE, July 14, 2016: Super model, catwalk star, it-girl with almost 20 million followers, Gigi Hadid has been chosen as the face of the Max Mara FW 2016 Accessories campaign, posing for one of the world’s best fashion photographers, Steven Meisel, who has once again been entrusted with the image of the top Italian fashion house, following other memorable campaigns such as those in the early 2000s featuring models for the likes of Stella Tennant and Linda Evangelista. This is not Gigi Hadid’s first appearance for Max Mara either; last year, before becoming an international sensation, the brand chose her for an alluring contemporary take on Marilyn Monroe, for the Fall-Winter 2015-2016 campaign. Gigi Hadid – full name Jelena Noura “Gigi” Hadid – has just celebrated her 21st birthday in her native Los Angeles. Fashion runs in her blood; her sister Bella is also a model, and her mother Yolanda Foster is one of the best-known Dutch models of the ‘80s and ‘90s. Queen of the social networks, Victoria’s Secret angel, the cover girl every international fashion magazine want to have: every time Gigi Hadid steps onto the catwalk she causes such a stir that her name is among the most frequent keywords to appear on search engines. And not only has she modeled for the world’s top fashion houses, but she has also appeared in numerous music videos, such as "Bad Blood" by her best friend, the singer Taylor Swift. With her sky blue eyes, sunny smile and breath taking body, for this campaign Gigi Hadid posed in Steven Meisel’s legendary New York City studio, and appears more magnetic and intense than ever before in these portraits where she presents the most important accessories of the Max Mara collection; first and foremost the new season’s version of the Max Mara Whitney Bag designed by Renzo Piano Building Workshop, presented last year as a homage to the Whitney Museum and now one of the bestsellers of the fashion house; and the JBag shoppers, where the pictures by Meisel enhance not only Gigi’s beautiful features, but also the rigorous shapes, the elegance, the stylish leather and the finely crafted details (such as the striking two-colour shoulder strap) of these sophisticated cult bags.
