Dubai Health Authority signs MoU with Sheikh Sultan Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan Humanitarian and Scientific Foundation.

MoU aims to promote reading as a recreational activity for children at Latifa Hospital.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, January 18, 2016:  The Dubai Health Authority signed today a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Sheikh Sultan Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan Humanitarian and Scientific Foundation.

The aim of the MoU is promote reading as a recreational activity for children at Latifa Hospital.

As per the MoU, the Foundation will sponsor the cost of building a library at Latifa Hospital.

The move is in line with the implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, who announced 2016 as the Year of Reading, in order to create a generation of book lovers and consolidate the UAE’s position as a global capital for culture and knowledge. The move is also in line with the “ Tabun Taqraoun” (Want to Read)  initiative that was launched by H.H. Sheikha Shamma bint Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, to encourage children unable to attend school due to illness, to pursue their education.

The library will help promote education among children staying in hospital and to enable them to pursue their studies during sick leave.

The MoU was signed by HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Sultan Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Secretary-General of the Sheikh Sultan Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan Humanitarian & Scientific Foundation and His Excellency Humaid Al Qatami, Chairman of the Board and Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority.

Al Qatami praised the efforts of the Foundation that is in line with the vision of the President of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to ensure UAE is a role model in the humanitarian field.

He added that DHA employees are proud to collaborate with the Foundation.

Al Qatami thanked the Foundation for choosing Latifa Hospital and highlighted that the library will provide meaningful recreation to the children at the hospital.

 HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Sultan Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan said that the aim of the MoU is to foster an environment of learning and culture. “The library will help promote education among children staying at the hospital and will enable them to pursue their studies during sick leave and will help alleviate their boredom and stress in a meaningful manner.”

He added that this is in line with the “Want to read” initiative and that the objective is to enlighten the minds of young children through the art of reading.
