Dubai, United Arab Emirates, January 6, 2015: His Excellency Humaid Al Qatami, Chairman of the Board and Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority received today a high-level delegation from Bahrain.

The delegation was headed by Lieutenant-General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Health Council (SHC) of Bahrain and the aim of the meeting was to get an overview of the medical legislations and health funding model of the Emirate of Dubai as well as to exchange ideas and best practices in the field of healthcare.

Al Qatami highlighted that such cooperation is in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai and that exchange of ideas is vital to incorporate best international practises and for the growth and development of the health sector.

The delegation was provided an overview of the national health data directory and a comprehensive update on the health funding system which included the insurance program for Dubai nationals and expatriates. The topics under the health funding system that were discussed included electronic coding, e-claims system, payer-provider interface, provider accreditation and quality management. Other topics that were discussed in detail included health data and informatics, health regulation and price regulation of the health sector.
