The Fazza Championship for Falconry - Faroukh edition was first launched last year and has attracted a large number of local falconers into the competition. Likewise, this season more than 2,500 participants have registered so far. Souad Ibrahim Darwish, Director of Championships at the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Centre, commented, “Continuously seeking to introduce smart technology is crucial to facilitating the registration process and better managing the Fazza Championships. “In the long journey of preserving UAE’s intangible heritage through the Fazza Heritage Championships, we have managed to create a unique model and matched international standards in time-keeping and managing the ‘one of a kind’ tournaments. This season, we have also increased the number of radars at the finish line and developed the smart rings containing the microchip to be fitted onto the falcons’ legs securing the right flow for participants. “Additionally, we have designed a larger tent for the falconers, and we have fitted 150 TV screens for falconers and guests to watch the championships live.” The tent this year also includes a “play area” for children, special stands to exhibit the falcons’ accessories and more spacious areas for the participants. The Fazza Championships for Falconry 2015-16 are more determined to showcase the skills of professional falconers and see well-trained falcons defy the winds to mark world records. The lucid prizes this season, also range from luxury cars for the first three places to cash rewards from the fourth place onwards.
