BurJuman introduces the BurJuman Safe & Sound App for the 2015 Safe & Sound Breast Cancer Awareness campaign

As part of the 2015 Safe & Sound Breast Cancer Awareness campaign, BurJuman has announced the launch of the new BurJuman Safe & Sound App.

Available via the App Store, users will be able to download the free app from October 1, 2015, and it will remain available to download throughout the year.

Harnessing the latest mobile technology for a more flexible approach, increased longevity and wider reach than the traditional month-long campaign during October’s Breast Cancer Awareness month, the BurJuman Safe & Sound App will be available to subscribers in the UAE and beyond. Using the app, subscribers will be able to run and walk to make their steps count - however, whenever and wherever they are.

The app features a convenient built-in payment gateway which enables users to donate money directly through an instant SMS or via direct debit to Safe & Sound’s charity partners, Al Jalila Foundation and Brest Friends. Participants can track their walks and runs through the user-friendly interface, challenge their friends and colleagues, and use it to spread the word about their achievements through social media channels. Not just aimed at individuals, the app also allows participants to walk and donate on behalf of a business or school, which allows organisations to support the Safe & Sound campaign as part of their ongoing CSR initiatives.

To further boost this year’s Safe & Sound campaign, BurJuman has pledged to donate a further AED100,000 to the cause when the total distance walked through the BurJuman Safe & Sound App reaches the 50,000km milestone during 2015.

Reinforcing the message that ‘early detection saves lives’, the app also contains essential information and resources to complement Safe & Sound’s ‘three steps’ mantra: monthly self-examination, clinical breast check ups from age 20 and onwards, and regular mammograms after the age of 40.

The BurJuman Safe & Sound App will replace the Walkathon element of the Safe & Sound campaign. While the Walkathon has proved a very popular part of the Safe & Sound initiative, the new app has the potential to reach an even wider community - of fundraisers and breast cancer sufferers alike - who may previously have been isolated from the campaign’s life-saving message. For those still wanting to take part in a community-wide event, BurJuman will also be hosting an event at Dubai’s Kite Beach on October 30, 2015. More details about the event will be available at www.safeandsound.ae and via BurJuman’s social media channels.
