Gucci Parfums announces first year impact of chime for change activation

P&G PRESTIGE, A KEY SUPPORTER OF CHIME FOR CHANGE, THE INNOVATIVE CAMPAIGN FOR THE EMPOWERMENT OF GIRLS AND WOMEN WORLDWIDE FOUNDED BY GUCCI, REPORTS SIGNIFICANT IMPACT IN YEAR ONE

Launched in 2013 by Gucci, CHIME FOR CHANGE campaigns to convene, unite and strengthen the voices speaking out for girls and women around the world. Founded by Gucci together with Salma Hayek Pinault and Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, the campaign aims to raise funds and awareness for Education, Health and Justice projects for girls and women around the world.

Gucci has always championed the idea of empowering women and has celebrated confidence and success as definitions of modern femininity. CHIME FOR CHANGE strives for a better world where there is more equality for women.

CHIME FOR CHANGE brings together a coalition of organizations and individuals to effect meaningful change for girls and women worldwide. In addition to P&G Prestige, the campaign has a number of strategic partners, including the Kering Foundation, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Catapult, Facebook, Hearst Magazines, Kellogg’s Special K and Twitter. In its first year, CHIME FOR CHANGE has funded more than 390 projects for girls and women in 86 countries through 132 non-profit partners.

A unique hallmark of the CHIME FOR CHANGE campaign is its encouragement of global support in a personalized, individual way.

Through its crowdfunding partner Catapult, the first crowdfunding platform for girls’ and women’s equality, people can use the power of the web to connect directly to the projects and issues they feel most strongly about.

Gucci Parfums is proud to be an active partner in CHIME FOR CHANGE. In 2013, Gucci invited Joanne Crewes, President of P&G Prestige, producer of Gucci Parfums, to be a member of the CHIME FOR CHANGE Advisory Board, and together they formulated an activation to engage fans of Gucci fragrances, empowering them to take action and join CHIME FOR CHANGE.

With each purchase of four designated iconic Gucci fragrances, customers receive a unique code that they can use to donate 5$ to projects supporting girls and women at ChimeforChange.org. Consumers can select among the three CHIME FOR CHANGE pillars - Education, Health and Justice - and share the news of their contributions on social networks while in-store, from their mobile phones or tablets, or from home. They can then follow the impact of their donation and share their engagement with friends.

FIRST YEAR IMPACT

Gucci Parfums is pleased to announce that it has exceeded its 1$ million goal in donations in year one of its partnership with CHIME

FOR CHANGE.

43% of donations were contributed to projects focused on education. These included: 100 girls in Peru receiving free primary education and complete nutrition; 50 primary school teachers provided with training and materials to facilitate increased access to quality education for girls in Afghanistan; and 700 students in 14 primary schools in Kenya being given the chance to receive a proper education.

32% of donations were contributed to projects focused on health. These included: 27 girls and women in Kenya receiving life changing fistula treatments; 200 nurses in Uganda being trained to prevent newborn asphyxiation; and 120 mothers and their unborn babies in India being treated to prevent mother-to-child transmission of HIV

26% of donations were contributed to projects focused on justice. These included: providing four months of staff support to care for women and children in need in Madrid and Seville, Spain; connecting 15 teen foster girls in the US to hosts/mentors and potential adoptive families at Camp Kidsave; and advocating to end sex trafficking and the exploitation of women in sub-Saharan Africa.

You have these great fragrances that people are going to buy, but at the same time, you can also impact change and help millions of people.
