Dubai, United Arab Emirates, January 20, 2015: The Dubai Health Authority’s (DHA’s) Thalassemia Centre collected donations from staff members and patients for the Tarahamu campaign. The Centre handed over the cash and kind donations received to Emirates Red Crescent. The campaign set up under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, aims to raises funds to provide aid to refugees and those affected by the snowstorm ‘Huda’ that’s sweeping the Levant region. Dr Khawla Belhoul, director of Thalassemia Centre thanked the staff members and patients for their contributions. The DHA also recently announced that it will donate medicines worth Dh 2 to 3 million on a monthly basis throughout the duration of this campaign. Donation boxes have been set up at Dubai Hospital, Rashid Hospital, Latifa Hospital and Hatta Hospital, the drop-off boxes are also available at Nad Al Hamar, Al Barsha, Safa and Al Mizhar primary healthcare centres. People can also pick up empty cardboard boxes from these locations and fill it up with clothing and other essential items, and then drop it back to the health facility. All items collected will be handed over the Emirates Red Crescent.
