Dubai, United Arab Emirates: The General Manager of Sheraton Dubai Creek Hotel & Towers has today confirmed that the legendary hotel will be a sponsor of the upcoming Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon, a decision, he says, reflects the property’s sterling reputation for tourism and hospitality excellence, but particularly community involvement. As part of its sponsorship package, Sheraton Dubai Creek Hotel & Towers will provide accommodation for a select number of race participants from 20-24 January. In addition, it will offer customised dining options for the elite athletes, as well as a programme of entertainment and events designed and offered exclusively for them. “We are proud to support this important international sporting event here in Dubai, as we believe that Dubai Creek represents the past and the future of one of the world’s great cities. We cannot imagine a hotel more emblematic of the accomplished past and dynamic future of Dubai than ours, and we are thrilled to be supporting this exciting event and its individual runners,” said Stephan Vanden Auweele, General Manager of Sheraton Dubai Creek Hotel & Towers, ahead of the 21 January press conference to be held at the hotel. The event – which awards USD 200,000 to the men’s and women’s winners, with another USD 100,000 if either sets a world-record time – will take place at 7am on Friday, 23 January 2015. Peter Connerton, Event Director of the Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon, said: “We are delighted to have one of Dubai’s hospitality landmarks acting as our host hotel, and we are certain that our runners staying with Sheraton Dubai Creek Hotel & Towers will turn up on race day well-rested and ready to show the world what they’ve got.” The Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon is held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council.
