30th Anniversary of Acclaimed Oil and Gas Event Brings World’s Decision Makers and Industry Experts to Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi, UAE - 10 November, 2014 - His Highness Sheikh Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Adviser, United Arab Emirates, officially inaugurated the 17th edition of the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC) in the UAE capital today.

ADIPEC 2014 is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and supported by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), the Ministry of Energy and the Abu Dhabi Chamber. 

Themed ‘Challenges and Opportunities for the Next 30 Years,’ ADIPEC 2014 is one of the world’s largest energy events, taking place at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), and concluding on 13 November.

During the inauguration, H.H. Sheikh Hazza toured the show floor in ADIPEC’s largest exhibition and conference to date. Sixteen National Oil Companies (NOCs) and 17 International Oil Companies (IOCs) have confirmed their presence at ADIPEC this year, the highest NOC and IOC participation in the event’s history, including 20 international country pavilions with the participation of the world’s major oil producers, including the US, China, Canada, and Mexico.

The landmark event, organised by dmg events, will host a range of industry-related activities, bringing together leading international and regional decision makers to set the agenda for meeting the global energy demand.

Billed as the premier speaking platform in the Middle East and North Africa, the largest ever ADIPEC 2014 Conference Programme, organised by the Society of Petroleum Engineers, features more than600 speakers from 111 organisations, with Executive Panels and Plenary Sessions, 81 technical sessions, 4 academic sessions, 3 special IT sessions, and industry breakfasts and luncheons.

Special features include Young ADIPEC, a programme designed to motivate students to pursue a career path in the energy sector, and a VIP Programme, a series of exclusive briefings dedicated to members of the Middle East Petroleum Club and senior industry representatives that look at some of the impending issues in the sector;

During his opening address to some of the world’s most important energy leaders, H.E. Suhail Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy, UAE, said: “We are so proud of the success of ADIPEC in the last three decades; especially this year, as it becomes probably the world’s largest oil and gas conference gathering, and the second largest exhibition.

“The increasing number of participants indicate the importance of the event in linking the different oil and gas industry stakeholders together to discuss and exhibit the solutions to the challenges we face.”

H.E. Abdulla Nasser AlSuwaidi, Director General of ADNOC, said: “ADNOC has pledged to increase crude oil production capacity to 3.5 million barrels per day by 2017, reaffirming our commitment to meet global growing demand for energy.”

“The ever-increasing need for sustainable energy sources must be balanced with dedication to issues of health, safety and the ever-increasing field of eco-awareness, where the UAE continues to make great strides at an international level.”
