Dubai-UAE: 8 November, 2014 - Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government (MBRSG), a research and teaching institution focusing on public policy in the Arab world, explored opportunities for collaboration with a delegation from the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU). During the meeting, Dr Ali Sebaa Al Marri, Executive President, MBRSG, and Dr Mansour Al Awar, Chancellor, HBMSU discussed enhanced synergy in the areas of academic curricula, training, and research. Dr Al Marri offered an overview of MBRSG’s strategic plan and sustained efforts in building the public institution’s capacity. This was followed by a presentation on the academic programs, executive education and leadership programs offered by the school. On his part, Dr Al Awar offered insights into HBMSU’s academic and training programs and its vision of providing quality education through the use of technology and ICT solutions. An agreement was reached to use Dr Al Awar’s book Positive Energy as teaching material in MBSRG’s executive programs. Inspired by the leadership style and thought orientation of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the book focuses on the role of positive energy in personal and institutional life. Dr Ali Sebaa Al Marri commended the achievements of HBMSU under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and President of the University. Speaking on the discussions, he said: “One of our primary objectives at MBRSG is to collaborate with government and academic organizations and open the doors for dialogue towards enriching knowledge. By sharing expertise and best practices, we hope to enhance public sector performance and boost competitiveness.” Dr. Mansour Al Awar, Chancellor, HBMSU, said: “The visit is in line with our ongoing efforts to connect with academic and educational institutions for the exchange of experiences and know-how in organizational and administrative development. We look forward to further strengthening our academic ties to aid the growth of both the entities.” The Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government is committed to promoting good governance through enhancing the region’s capacity for effective public policy. The school uses a four-pronged approach, which includes applied research in public policy and management, academic programs in public policy and administration, as well as executive education programs and knowledge forums for scholars and policy makers.
