21 October 2014 - Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates - Centro Capital Centre, in collaboration with Burjeel Hospital, has hosted an educational awareness session about Breast Cancer and its early detection. The session is part of the hotel’s ongoing efforts and commitment to their colleague’s health and overall wellbeing. Breast cancer is one of the most common types of cancer in the UAE, with the number of sufferers increasing by 20 percent since 2009, according to figures released by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA). The Breast Cancer Awareness session aims to generate awareness about the importance of regular breast screening as a key preventive measure against breast cancer. Speaking on the occasion, Ayman Ashor, General Manager Centro Capital Centre said: “We take the well-being of our colleagues very seriously, at Centro Capital Centre we believe that raising awareness about breast cancer is the key to encourage early detection, hence saving lives. We would like to thank Burjeel Hospital team for their great collaboration and support in making this event possible”. The campaign, which is being organized as part of Centro Capital Centre’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) program, underlines the hotel’s continuing thrust to support various initiatives that benefit its guests, colleagues and community. “With the increasing number of breast cancer cases in the UAE, Burjeel Hospital is taking an active role in creating awareness to help the community at large. With October being the Breast Cancer Awareness Month, this community initiative with Centro Capital Centre is poised to shed light on the disease and set the stage for early detection and treatment,” said Mr. Clancey Po, CEO at Burjeel Hospital. The awareness session, which was attended by Centro’s female colleague members and Ewa'a Shelters for women and children employees focused on the importance of breast cancer awareness, educating them on proper examination methods and key indicators for them to look out for. After the awareness session, all the attendees participated in a Q&A session with a medical expert from Burjeel Hospital in order to respond to all their questions about breast cancer awareness, detection or treatment.
