UAE, May 9, 2017 - H.E. Dr. Mohamed Salim Al Olama, Undersecretary of the UAE Ministry of Health & Prevention (MOHAP), recently received H.E. Frank Mollen, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the UAE, at the Ministry’s office in Abu Dhabi to discuss opportunities for enhancing relations in the health sector. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Essa Ahmed Al Mansouri, Manager of the Undersecretary’s Office and Director of International Health Relations. 

H.E. Al Olama welcomed H.E. Mollen and noted the strong relations between their two countries. During the meeting, both parties discussed the results of the meeting that took place last month between His Excellency Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Owais Minister of Health & Prevention, along with H.E Martin van Rijn, Minister of State for Health, Welfare and Sports. Moreover, the two sides discussed efforts to promote the health sector while exchanging experiences and highlighting training opportunities. Participants also highlighted attracting distinguished doctors, encouraging more visits by doctors, and treating Emirati citizens in leading medical centres in the Netherlands, in addition to the latest management systems for medical facilities, health information technology, pharmaceutical industries, medical equipment technology, and the licensing of Dutch doctors in the UAE.

Dr. Al Olama stressed the importance of activating the positive results of the meeting of the two health ministers in Dubai to develop and improve the quality of the healthcare sector and healthcare systems in both countries. He showcased the UAE’s most important achievements in the health sector, in addition to the excellent results achieved as part of the global competitiveness indicators.  This supports MOHAP’s strategy to provide the community with the best healthcare and preventative services in a healthy and sustainable environment, in adherence with set policies, legislations, programs, and regional and international partnerships. This, he explained, enhances the UAE’s international position as a safe and healthy society.

H.E. Mollen praised the meeting the took place between the two ministers and noted to his country’s commitment to developing stronger relations with the UAE, while exchanging experiences in the fields of training, treatment, and diagnostic services. He also commended the UAE’s health sector, confirming his country’s readiness to strengthen cooperation with the UAE in a number of fields.
