The prestigious award was presented to the Ski Dubai team at the World Ski Awards held in Austria Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 7 December, 2016: Majid Al Futtaim, the leading shopping mall, retail and leisure pioneer across the Middle East and North Africa, is pleased to announce that Ski Dubai has been awarded the title of ‘World’s Best Indoor Ski Resort’ at the internationally recognised World Ski Awards Ceremony, held in Austria in November. The World’s Best Indoor Ski Resort category celebrates the leading indoor ski resorts around the globe and this year saw the UAE’s only ski resort claim the top prize, beating the likes of Snow Factor in Scotland, SnowWorld Landgraff in the Netherlands, Snowplanet in New Zealand, Alpincenter Bottrop in Germany, Madrid SnowZone and Snej.com from Russia. Votes are cast by professionals working within the industry, including senior executives, travel buyers, tour operators, agents and media, as well as ski tourism consumers. Ski Dubai, which celebrated its 10th anniversary in November 2015, is the Middle East’s first indoor ski resort. It features five slopes of varying steepness and difficultly, including the world’s first indoor black run. In addition to its world-renowned skiing and snowboarding facilities, Ski Dubai also offers a number of activities for all ages and abilities, including the world’s first indoor zip-line at sub-zero temperatures, the Snow Bullet, and the world’s first Chairlift to have an angle. It is also home to Dubai’s favourite feathered residents, the Snow Penguins.
