Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 7 June, 2015: The Dubai Health Authority recently successfully concluded today a two-day open forum that was held to present employees with an opportunity to directly communicate with their chairman. The forum known as ‘Open Forum with the chairman and DHA employees,’ took place at the Rashid Medical Library Auditorium. His Excellency Humaid Mohammed Obaid Al Qatami, chairman of the board of the Dubai Health Authority, said the aim of the forum was to present employees with an opportunity to directly communicate their feedback, opinion and ideas. Al Qatami, said: “ The forum presents an opportunity for employees to give constructive feedback in a format that is comfortable. We want to create a culture where everyone is open to feedback on every level throughout the year so that together we can strengthen and positively develop the functioning of all departments across all entities of the DHA.” Al Qatami highlighted that such forums will take place on a regular basis. | “The outcomes of such forums will be evaluated and discussed from time-to-time.” He said that DHA hospitals and health centres will have a medical council that will be party formed by doctors and they will meet on a weekly basis. “ The council will present their reports directly to the higher management. This will help quickly streamline any issues that present themselves during the day-to-day functioning of the health facilities and it will help further develop the functioning of the health entities,” said Al Qatami. Furthermore, the higher management will receive regular feedback on the functioning of the health facilities. “This will also lead to positive competition between DHA health providers which is beneficial for the overall health sector,” said Al Qatami. He said the DHA will work with the relevant health authorities in the UAE, including Ministry of Health(MoH) and Health Authority Abu Dhabi(HAAD) to ensure unification of criteria to access qualification of health professionals. He added that there will be more investment in residency programs to ensure a steady stream of highly qualified medical professionals. Al Qatami said that he will visit all DHA health facilities and hospitals including Hatta hospital. He highlighted the importance of team work, which is the cornerstone to success. DHA employees from all various fields including administration staff, doctors, nurses, laboratory technicians and paramedics were encouraged to give their feedback and to use this opportunity to directly communicate with the DHA higher management. Al Qatami thanked all the employees for taking part in the forum and mentioned that such forums will take place regularly. “ Healthcare is a noble profession and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for the work that you do to serve the community. Together we will ensure we work to further improve the functioning of the health sector.” Other DHA members on the panel of the open forum included Jassim Al Awadi, CEO of shared support services sector, Dr Ahmad Bin Kalban, CEO of hospital services sector, Dr Manal Taryam, CEO of primary health care Sector and Dr Layla Al Marzouqi, director of health regulation and Dubai medical tourism initiative.
