Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 19 May, 2015: The Medical Education Department of the Dubai Health Authority(DHA) successfully conducted an advanced workshop on critical appraisal of medical journals. Workshops on this subject has taken place over 11 times in the last seven years. The workshop titled 'Critical Appraisal Advanced Workshop” was attended by 146 doctors from the public and private sector. Dr Jamila Mohammed Al Shaikh, director of medical education department at the DHA explained that such courses contribute directly in developing sound medical practice because the workshop focusses on Evidence Based Medicine. Dr. Al Shaikh, stated that the demand for this workshop has increased over the years and it highlights the fact that trainees are keen to learn the necessary skills to understand and evaluate clinical articles in order to upgrade their skills in the medical field. The two-day workshop discussed correct, clear, and transparent methods of data evaluation in published research. The workshop helped trainees to understand published reports and conclusions and encouraged evidence-based education. Participants received 12 credit CME points for the workshop.
