Dubai, UAE, December 03, 2014: The only handmade herbal Holy Quran in the world made from approximately 200 herbs has been unveiled in Dubai by Heddem Arts, a company that deals in unique Holy Quran, rare Islamic arts and calligraphy. Crafted by Turkish Unani Doctor Hamdi Taher (1897-2003) over a period of twenty three years (1957-1979), this Holy Quran is made of high potency herbal mixtures prepared as per Unani medical system. Herbal cream has been used to engrave the letters, chapter names, chapter headings on the top and sides of the pages, border designs, page numbers, edges of the sheets including the sheets of Holy Quran and everything that has gone into crafting this masterpiece is entirely made from medicinal herbal extracts from start to finish. Heddem Arts also has a certificate of authenticity for the Quran from Islamic Affairs, Dubai. The herbal sheets of the Holy Quran have many therapeutic properties; when the reader moves his fingers on the letters or in and around the pages, the herbal mixture seeps through the pores in the fingers, providing health benefits. The Holy Quran has 606 pages and weighs about 7.5 kilos. The herbal mixture used to make the Holy Quran is directly extracted from seeds, fruits, leaves, stems, barks and roots used in Unani medicine. Abdul Azeaz Bin Hassan Moulavi Malabari, Islamic Religious Advisor at Heddem Arts, commented: “We are honoured to receive this labour of devotion from the late Hakim Hamdi Taher who devoted his life to creating this unique herbal Holy Quran with the blessings of Almighty Allah; and based on his deep knowledge about the herbs used in the Unani medicinal system. Patiently handcrafted over the years, every word and design in this Holy Quran is made without using any printing technology, tools or machinery. With every letter beautifully hand crafted, it sometimes took more than an hour to write, chisel and bring a simple ‘alif’ to the perfect shape and size. The medicinal properties of this Holy Quran will last for thousands of years, even if it is read daily.” He added: “We contacted 1714 museums in 80 countries to verify that no one else has crafted such a unique Holy Quran or any other book, it is truly one of a kind. We have received offers from several buyers but we are particular the buyer should be someone who appreciates Islamic values.” He also highlighted that Hakim Hamdi Taher’s inspiration to make the Holy Quran came from the following verse: Abu Huraira narrated “The Prophet (ﷺ) said, 'There is no disease that Allah has created, except that He also has created its treatment.' Hadith of Sahih Bhukari:: Book 7 :: Volume 71(medicine) :: Hadith 582. The Holy Quran will be on public display from 7th to 11th December, 2014 at Heddem Arts located at M1/1, Red Avenue Building, Garhoud (near GGICO Metro station), Dubai.
