Dubai, United Arab Emirates, November 17, 2014: Dubai Health Authority’s Director General His Excellency Engineer Essa Al Maidoor has been presented with the title Lord of the Matterhorn by the Swiss Business Council. Every year the Swiss Business Council’s executive committee nominates a number of candidates for the prestigious award named after Switzerland’s most famous mountain. The candidates must be based in the UAE and have supported the business council in some way. Peter Harradine, President of the Swiss Business Council, said: “It is a great honour for the Swiss Business Council (Dubai and Northern Emirates) to award H.E. Essa Al Maidoor with the title of Lord of the Matterhorn, in recognition of his efforts for bolstering cooperation in the field of healthcare between our Council and the DHA.” He added that the Council is the organizer of MENA Geriatric Summit that will take place from the 11-13th of December 2014, and that the DHA has provided tremendous support for the conference. DHA experts are also participating in the congress that will discuss the latest advancements in geriatric care. Al Maidoor, said: “I accept this title on behalf of all my staff members at the DHA. The Swiss business community plays an important role in Dubai and we are pleased to cooperate with them. At the DHA, it is our aim to continuously improve health services and to ensure we keep pace with developments in the health sector. We consider the private sector to be our partners in our race for excellence and not our competitors and therefore we are keen to work with them in across all areas of healthcare from conferences and event organisation to medicine as well as logistics and technology. Our vision is that Dubai should provide the highest level of treatment across all medical specialities.” H.E. Al Maidoor is the second recipient of the award in Dubai. The felicitation ceremony took place in presence of senior officials from both sides including Dr Manal Al Taryam, CEO of Primary Healthcare Sector. The Swiss Business Council (Dubai and Northern Emirates) has been operational for eighteen years and has 250 members.
