Dubai, October 28, 2014: The development and support of women, the arts, fashion and education made strong headlines at the 2014 World Islamic Economic Forum, which launched in Dubai today. And more is still to come. As part of MOCAFest, the creative support-forum of the WIEF, Islamic Fashion and Design Council's panel discussion on the development and growth of Islamic fashion will take place on Wednesday, 29 October at 16:00. WHAT’S CHANGED? THE NEW MUSLIM LOOK is the panel discussion that will be moderated by Islamic Fashion Design Council (IFDC) Founder and Chairwoman, Alia Khan, and feature fashion industry leaders. “We are really looking forward to the dialogue that the panel discussion will draw,” said Alia. “There are so many questions surrounding the industry today and people want to know! They want to know what factors influence Islamic fashion and design today. They want to know where developments in this industry verge – are they progressive or are they defiant? And people - designers, buyers, consumers, investors, etc. - want to know what's behind the massive growth potential of Islamic fashion!” Alia Khan will lead the panel into discussion on fashion trends from previous generations up to the present within Muslim communities from around the globe. Panel questions asked and answered will include: • What influences change and culture? • How do appearances reflect ones ambitions and values? • What are the influencing factors in Islamic Fashion choices today? • What are the thoughts on conservative critics who raise the question of whether a change in Islamic fashion is progression or defiance? • Does Islamic fashion have any role in improving the self-image and the public image of Islam? • What's behind the overwhelming growth and opportunity of the Islamic fashion industry?
