2014 Reebok Crossfit Games - Season Overview

UAE: Wednesday 23rd July, 2014: Following months of global competitions at the 2014 Reebok CrossFit Open and Regionals, athletes from all corners of the world will go head-to-head (July 23rd - 28th at the StubHub Center, Carson, CA) for a chance to be crowned the Fittest On Earth™ and 2014 is set to be the most competitive CrossFit Games yet.  

The women’s side this year is setting up to be one of the tightest races in the history of the CrossFit Games. Returning for another chance at the title this year is 2011 and 2012 champion Annie Thorisdottir, who withdrew from last year’s competition with a back injury but finished first at this year’s European Regional. Julie Foucher also makes her return, after taking off 2013 to pursue her studies. Despite not competing last season, Julie has continued to train hard and is a serious contender for this year’s title. After taking the top spot at the SoCal Regional, Valerie Voboril is back and eager to secure her third podium finish, after finishing third at the 2013 Reebok CrossFit Games. 

In the men’s competition, three-time defending champion Rich Froning is looking to add a fourth trophy to his cabinet after storming through the Regionals finishing top in the Central East region.  Other favorites include CrossFit Games regulars Scott Panchik and 2008 champion Jason Khalipa. One to watch this year is rookie Mathew Fraser, from the North East Region. Matt not only won the North East Regional but also finished 2nd worldwide in The Open and holds the event record for Nasty Girls.
