Abu Dhabi, 28 October 2013 - During a ceremony in Dubai celebrating the 2013 Arabian Property Awards, Al Maabar received two prestigious awards in honor of its two development projects in Jordan: Marsa Zayed, in Aqaba, and The St. Regis Amman and The Residences at The St. Regis Amman. The high-profile event was held at The One and Only Royal Mirage Hotel on Thursday, October 24, and was attended by the most prolific and esteemed players in the region's real estate industry. This is the second consecutive year that Al Maabar's projects have been recognized at the regional competition of the renowned International Property Awards. The award for Five Star Best Mixed-Use Development – Jordan was presented to Al Maabar for Al Raha Village, the first residential neighborhood in Marsa Zayed, located at the southern edge of the project, featuring more than 500 residential units. The company also received the award for Highly Commended Mixed-Use Development – Jordan for its development of The St. Regis Amman and The Residences at The St. Regis Amman. CEO of Al Maabar Jordan Emad Kilani expressed pleasure and appreciation for the company's latest achievements, stating, 'It is extremely rewarding to receive such stellar recognition from such an esteemed international competition. Last year, the Arabian Property Awards recognized Marsa Zayed through two accolades: Best MixedUse Architecture – Jordan for the design of Al Raha Village, and Best Public Service Architecture - Jordan for the Sheikh Zayed Masjid, a large, ornate mosque at the northern end of the development that will accommodate 2,000 worshippers. Marsa Zayed, a 3.2 million-square-meter development situated in the heart of Aqaba, is the largest mega mixed use development project envisioned in the region. The first phase of the project includes the Sheikh Zayed Masjid, slated for completion in the second quarter of 2014, and Al Raha Village, a peaceful residential neighborhood comprising more than 500 residential units, including both apartments and townhouses. The first phase of development is on track for completion in mid-2015. In Amman, Al Maabar is developing The St. Regis Amman and The Residences at The St. Regis Amman, which will include the construction of three 17-storey towers. One tower will house the luxurious 260-guest room St. Regis Amman Hotel, including 86 suites, while the other two will host The Residences at the St. Regis Amman – the first private branded residences in Jordan. Residents will have full access to world-class amenities and leisure facilities, including a pool, fitness centre, dedicated lobby, business centre, playgrounds, executive lounge, private theater, butler service and a remarkable space to host meetings and events. The Arabian Property Awards are part of the long-established International Property Awards, the world's richest competition when measured by the value of the projects entered. The Arabian Property Awards rank amongst the most prestigious commendations in the residential and commercial property industries. A high-caliber jury of international experts, consisting of approximately 70 professionals, identifies the most significant building projects as well as the highest quality Arabian real estate agencies. At the end of the year, the highest scoring winners from the Arabian Property Awards will compete against other winning companies from Africa, Asia, Europe, the UK and the Americas to find the ultimate world's best in each category.
