• Indian and Pakistani Alumni Celebrate Global INSEAD Day through friendly Cricket match • Roundtable held to discuss trade and the strengthening of relationships between the two communities Abu Dhabi. September 21, 2013 – INSEAD's UAE based alumni recently held a day of activities in Dubai to mark Global INSEAD Day, a special day of celebration of the school's community and values. INSEAD Alumni from India and Pakistan held a panel discussion on the normalization of trade between the two countries. In addition to the panel discussion, the alumni from India and Pakistan held a cricket match at the Cricket Stadium, Dubai Sports City, which was won by the alumni from Pakistan. The roundtable was made up of representatives from INSEAD's Indian and Pakistani alumni and focused on the normalisation of trade between the two countries and the importance of strengthening cultural ties. Participants from Pakistan included; Javed Jabbar, Chairman and Chief Executive of J.J. Media Ltd, and Project One Ltd, Abdul Samad Dawood, founder and CEO of Cyan Limited, a leading private equity firm; Mosharraf Zaidi, the Campaign Director for Alif Ailaan, a political campaign to help end Pakistan's Education emergency along with Amin Hashwani a leading Pakistani businessman and social activist. From India; Sanjay Verma, the Indian Consul General of India in Dubai, and Suhasini Haidar, Senior Editor and Prime Time anchor for India's leading 24 hour English news channel CNN-IBN. A member of the longest running Pakistan-India Track-II Dialogue known as the Nemmrana Initiative, Javed Jabbar said, “Whether the two countries remain perpetual protagonists or become constructive partners is a mutually determined choice, the onus is not on one alone. For the world's most complex bilateral relationship to improve, the world also has to contribute a role.” September 12 was selected to coincide with the anniversary of the first opening ceremony for MBA students at INSEAD in 1959. In commemorating this day, the school intends to invoke the thrill and excitement of each opening ceremony over the past five decades and channel it into a celebration of INSEAD across the different continents. In doing so, INSEAD also highlights its unique status as the only business school with multiple campuses, contributing to its renown as the world's most prestigious and diverse management institution. The INSEAD Alumni Associations established across 46 countries were founded by volunteers who wanted to keep alive the many fond memories of their time at INSEAD and help form a seamless network of graduates brought together by the shared INSEAD experience. Global INSEAD Day will provide an opportunity for all alumni to celebrate their INSEAD experience in unison with all other alumni as well as the current students and faculty, doing so in a way that reflects their own personal experiences at INSEAD. What has INSEAD meant for the different communities? The day should be celebrated in a way that is reflective of everyone's own experiences at INSEAD.
