[DUBAI, ABU DHABI] Wednesday, 15 November 2017 – The best in healthcare information and technology in both the UAE and the world were celebrated and discussed extensively at the HIMSS Middle East UAE eHealth Week 2017 Conference and Exhibition.
This year’s event was led by Guest of Honour His Excellency Humaid Mohammed Obaid Al Qatami, Chairman of the Board and Director-General, Dubai Health Authority (DHA), and attended by over 350 delegates.
The first day morning saw the recognition of numerous achievements in the UAE and GCC including an unprecedented number of recipients in the Middle East for the HIMSS Analytics Electronic Adoption Model (EMRAM) and Outpatient EMRAM Award. Other Awards given out included the DHA Recognition Awards, Heathcare IT Leader Hall of Fame Awards and the HIMSS-Elsevier Digital Healthcare Awards.
The focus of the conference sessions on the first day was Health Information Exchange (HIE) and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Adoption across both public and private sectors. The latest groundbreaking discoveries in the world of Health and Information Technology came to attendees at the Dubai leg on 12 and 13 November: Artificial Intelligence, Genomics, Blockchain, Health 2.0 and Gamification amongst others.
Aligned with the region’s Vision 2030 and its pursuit of healthcare excellence through technology and national eHealth projects, DHA, UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP), Health Authority Abu Dhabi (HAAD), Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA), Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences, and Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi were official supporters of the event.
Another key highlight this year was the launch of two professional groups: GCC Healthcare CIO Community Launch, sponsored by Cerner, and Women in Health IT Community Launch, sponsored by IBM.
This year, 11 sponsors and exhibitors showcased their solutions. This included Pearl Sponsors Cerner, EPIC, IBM, Intersystems and Vocera
On 14 November, the conference moved to Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. Mr. John Daniels, Global Vice President, HIMSS Analytics shared the revised criteria for the HIMSS EMRAM, which will take effect in 2018.
Mr. Jeremy Bonfini, Executive Vice President, HIMSS International said, “HIMSS works with over 9,000 organizations around the world to help them adopt technology. At this UAE eHealth Week, we recognized hospitals that have jumped into the top 10% of Digital Hospitals Worldwide. In 2018, we will work to bring UAE Hospitals to the next level, which is Stage 7. HIMSS will continue to join forces with our healthcare providers and organizations such as MOHAP, DHA, SEHA, and HAAD to make this vision come true.”
HIMSS has announced that the next Middle East conference would be held from 10 – 11 April 2018 in Riyadh. The next UAE eHealth Week will take place in November 2018.
