Our youth organisation, Green Hope Foundation, celebrated World Environment Day with a multitude of youth actions showing our support for the environment. As Future Generations, we believe that it is our responsibility to take actions, TODAY, and create a future that is equitable and sustainable . We need to celebrate World Environment Day everyday and we did this through a month full of activities leading up to 5th June. Our youth members, some as young as 6, spent hours cleaning beaches, collecting several bags of litter. We also planted 70 saplings to mitigate climate change. Our members collected almost 1000 kgs of waste which we handed over to a recycling plant. We also conducted a 'Sustainability Workshop' for university students in Al Ain where the participants painted their ideas of achieving the 17 sustainable development goals. Our actions were not limited to the UAE alone. I spent several hours cleaning the canals of Amsterdam , on 2nd June, collecting plastic trash which was littering the waters. So, let's connect with nature and spread happiness. - Kehkashan Basu, Youth Ambassador World Future Council
