Dubai, United Arab Emirates, February 1, 2017: Dubai Health Authority’s ( DHA’s) Blood Donation Centre is putting the power to save lives in the palm of the users' hand. The DHA displayed at The Arab Health Exhibition & Congress, a new app for iPhone and android which makes it easier to find a time and place to make a blood donation. The app is part of the Smart Integrated Donation management system that the Authority has adopted which is based on world leading technology (Hemasoft). “The new system and smart application will help streamline the blood donation process and provide a smart solution that allows blood donors to locate nearest blood donation center (Or Mobile Blood Donation Unit) through their Mobile phone,” said Amani Al Jassmi, Director of Information Technology at the DHA. The app has a plethora of convenient features. Donors will be able to answer donation eligibility questionnaire and read pre-donation educational material through their mobile phones before they come to the donation center. The app will inform the donor their next donation date. Donors will also be able to receive appreciation letters and invitations for activities related to blood donation through their smart device and get notifications for donation campaigns. The app registers donors and potential donors who agree to donate blood during emergencies and disasters so that they can be added to the Centre’s database, this is particularly important when the need arises for rare blood groups. Dr May Raouf, Director of DHA’s Blood Donation Centre said the aim of developing this app is to help the Centre stay connected with all its donors, provide donors and potential donors with convenience so that they are encouraged to donate blood and save lives. The app will be available before end of April this year.
