MCL stars training make ICC Academy home as preparations begin for MCL 27 January, 2016: Dubai: Some of the world’s biggest cricketing names are descending on the ICC Academy, Dubai Sports City ahead of the Masters Champions League tournament set to begin in Dubai and Sharjah next week. Six teams made up of former cricketing internationals and captained by some of the sport’s most famous and talented stars will soon be delighting fans in Dubai and Sharjah and see the facilities at the ICC Academy as the best place to train ahead of the real action beginning. Before the competition begins for real, the ICC Academy has opened up their training facilities for the teams and the great an good of the cricketing world are only too thankful. Former West Indies Test captain, Brian Lara is captain of the Leo Lions team for the MCL and has said that the ICC Academy is an ideal location for his team’s preparations. “The ICC Academy is perfect for us to get the training hours in. I can’t think of a better place to get in the nets and get ready for the MCL. “There is a great atmosphere here ahead of the competition. It’s pretty special to be training at the same place as some of the world’s best-loved cricketers. I’m just very pleased to a part of it all.” Players such as Paul Collingwood, Sourav Ganguly, Mahela Jaywardene, Adam Gilchrist and Shane Bond will all be talking part in the MCL 2020 and many have decided to use the ICC Academy to train. ICC Academy Manager, Will Kitchen said: “It’s a delight for us to have so many legends here at once and for them to see the benefits of the set-up we have at the ICC Academy. “It’s been a great start to 2016 at the ICC Academy as we have had has been busy with teams training and matches since since the turn of the year. We have had the Under-19 Tri Nation Tournament involving Australia, New Zealand and Pakistan and also the England Lions and Pakistan A team are having their 5 ODI match series taking place right now. “To also welcome the likes of Brian Lara and Adam Gilchrist to the ICC Academy is very rewarding.” Adam Gilchrist, the former Australian wicket-keeper and captain of the Sagittarius Strikers side says that his team have felt very at home whilst training. “This is perfect, the weather, the conditions and the practice facilities, it’s the best place to get us into shape ahead of the MCL. “We’re all delighted to be a part of the competition and very grateful of the ICC Academy to allow us all to practice so we’re fully prepared.” Training sessions at the ICC Academy for the MCL sides are taking place until January 31st.
