Campaign to Ensure Accuracy of Fuel Meters Launched

QCC Collaborates with ADNOC Distribution to Verify Accuracy of Fuel Meter Measurement Across Abu Dhabi.

Abu Dhabi-UAE: 05 August, 2015 - The Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC), in collaboration with ADNOC Distribution, has launched a campaign to verify the accuracy of all fuel meters used at ADNOC Distribution service stations in Abu Dhabi. The move aims to promote fair trade in Abu Dhabi by ensuring the conformity of fuel meters to the highest global quality standards.

From the beginning of 2015 until July, a total of 1,960 fuel meters across 82 service stations in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and the Western Region have been verified for accuracy as part of the campaign that will end in September 2015.

Mohammed Helal Al Balooshi, Marketing & Communications Director at Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC), said: “QCC’s collaboration with ADNOC Distribution on this campaign reflects our commitment to creating a safer and fairer market environment  in Abu Dhabi by ensuring market confidence through reliable legal metrology services. In launching this campaign, we seek to gain the confidence of consumers in the accuracy of every fuel meter used in Abu Dhabi, while raising awareness about their rights in this aspect.”

QCC deployed special vehicles fitted out with necessary testing equipment in line with the latest international standards. It also used volumetric test measures and international calibration methods to ensure the conformity of meters to set standards.

The Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council was founded in 2009 to raise the quality of Abu Dhabi’s exports and products traded locally, while protecting the interests of the emirate’s consumers and supporting its competitive economy. This is achieved through empowering regulators to establish and implement product safety, legal metrology and conformity schemes. QCC also sets guidelines and benchmarks to identify and verify that the products manufactured and traded in the emirate conform to the highest quality standards.

ADNOC Distribution operates a vast network of service stations and convenience stores.  These stations are equipped with the most advanced technology for fuel, automated car wash and vacuuming, lube bay and tire repair.

In addition, aviation refueling services, ships bunkering along with production of a range of lubricants are marketed locally, as well as, being exported across the GCC markets, Middle East, the Far East, Africa and Europe.
