L'Oréal Middle East Brings Smiles to Kids on its Third ‘Citizen Day'

L’Oréal teams up with local associations to make a difference on this dedicated Volunteer Day

Dubai, June 29, 2015: This year’s Citizen Day initiative at L’Oréal Middle East was an opportunity to bring some positive energy, cheer and smiles to some of the youngest and most deserving in the community. Over 160 L’Oréal Middle East employees got together to dedicate June 8th 2015 to helping local communities and partner organizations.

This year’s theme was ‘I Feel Good to Do Good, We All Have a Role to Play’.

The idea came from a desire to support underprivileged and special needs children. Thus, a decision was taken to implement an annual plan with Al Hemam Educational Center for Empowering the Youth, beginning with this year’s Citizen Day to start off the partnership. 50 children from Al Noor Center for Children with Special Needs as well as 80 children from Al Hemam Educational Center for Empowering the Youth were invited to a fun day at the interactive children’s center, Kidzania. LOME employees were each assigned a child for the day. The children could choose from 80 role-playing activities and more than 60 establishments at Kidzania, all of them accessible to children with special needs. LOME employees also organized lunch for the kids. At the end of the event, goodie bags were handed out and the children were accompanied to their buses for a great finish to the day.

Globally in 2014, over 24,000 employees participated in Citizen Day initiatives across the world, impacting 32,0000 people through 420 different associations. L’Oréal Citizen Day was launched internationally in 2010 with the aim of bringing to life L’Oréal’s commitment to social responsibility through one day of collective voluntary action.

“The collective Citizen Day effort has been gathering momentum over the last three years, which makes it possible to provide citizen-related initiatives that can have an amazing impact and an enduring partnership with local associations,” said Thierry Houssin, Managing Director, L’Oréal Middle East. “ Our goal, however, is to put in a concerted effort with creative ideas and meaningful inspiration from our teams to ensure that every day is a Citizen Day. We want the spirit of Citizen Day to go way beyond just one day in a year! This is why we have organized and are looking forward to a whole year of programs with Al Hemam. At L’Oréal, we are fully convinced that we have an important role to play as a corporate citizen.”

Local partner and creative agency Talents Flow also contributed to the success of this day.
