The ceremonial inauguration of the CA Sri Lanka - UAE Chapter was held at the Emirates Ballroom of the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel in Dubai on Friday, 27th March 2015.

The event was held under the patronage of Mr. Lasantha Wickremasinghe, Vice President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka), Mr. A.S.K. Senavirathne, Chargé d' Affaires, Embassy of Sri Lanka, Abu Dhabi and Mr. M.M. Abdul Rahim, Consul General of Sri Lanka, Dubai and Northern Emirates.
The inauguration ceremony was also enlightened with the distinguished presence of chair personnel and key representatives of other professional accounting bodies that are based in UAE, namely, Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Pakistan, England and Wales; Chartered Institute of Management Accountants from UK and Certified Public Accountants from Australia.

Over seventy members of CA Sri Lanka residing in UAE were present at ceremony and key representatives of the CA Sri Lanka Chapters in other Gulf countries were also participated for the inauguration.

CA Sri Lanka UAE Chapter will facilitate CA Sri Lanka members living in UAE to enhance their professional competencies through Continuous Professional Development (CPD) progammes, while providing a platform which will provide an opportunity for social and community interaction among members.

This launch was a grand success according to the UAE Chapter President Mr. R. Kirupananthan and the Chapter will strongly move forward in organizing events for the benefit of the over 120 CA Sri Lanka members working in multiple industry sectors spread across various emirates within the UAE. This is perhaps an unforgettable day for all CA Sri Lanka Members residing in UAE as they have witnessed another milestone of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka as it further expands its presence across the world map by establishing yet another overseas chapter in the United Arab Emirates. Journey of CA Sri Lanka UAE Chapter which was a thought in the minds of many of the members, was formally launched under the patronage of distinguished invitees and presence of well recognized professional accounting bodies and associations gathered in that occasion.

Vice President Mr. Indika Wijayarathne is his speech at the event reminded the quote of Lao Tzu ” A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step”. He also said that “coming together is beginning; keeping together is progress; and working together is successes” and together, we are greater than sum of our parts.
