Dubai, February 19, 2015 Rashid Centre for Disabled in Barsha 1, Dubai recently released the 50th issue of its quarterly Rashid Magazine. The cover conveyed the message To make Dubai A Friendly City for Disabled by 2020 following HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s vision. This bi-lingual publication tells of the visits by celebrities like Palestinian singer Mohammed Assaf, Al Nasr 1 Football club, Asala Nasri and many more who bring attention to this humanitarian cause as well as other events being held at Rashid. The visitors were impressed with the progress of the students at Rashid as well as with the facilities and programs offered at the centre. Mrs. Mariam Othman, Director General conveyed gratitude for the support received from everyone including the community in favor of this effort. Colorful photos accompany details of the events held at Rashid Centre like the Poetry session for the 43rd UAE National Day in the presence of HH Sheikh Ahmed Bin Dalmouk Al Maktoum (member of board of governors Rashid Centre). Zenith Swiss Watches Managing Director Georges Bechara (member of board of governors Rashid Centre) and Emirati superstar singer Aryam also attended. Another event included Media and press being honored in the presence of HH Sheikh Juma Bin Maktoum Bin Juma Al Maktoum (Centre’s Board Member & Acting Chairman). “Our pride above skies” clip was launched and poem “Joy Maker” by Ali Al Khawar inspired by the tweets of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Mrs. Mariam Othman said, “In appreciation from Rashid Centre to HH Sheikh Mohammed and for what he has given to the centre including gifted land, we will issue a book in three languages titled ‘Flashes of Mohammed Bin Rashid Tweets’.” She praised celebrities for using their fame in order to spread awareness and help the less fortunate. HH Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum (Board member & Chairman Rashid Centre) welcomed new board members. This follows the centre’s past 20th year celebrations and its enrolment of 300 students. Rashid Centre launched ‘Zad Zayed’ initiative as part of Zayed Day for Humanitarian deeds showing charitable & humanitarian memories of Late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Rashid Bin Sa’eed Al Maktoum. Graduation day was celebrated for dozens of students whom Rashid has proudly groomed to be part of a normal society and who are now well-equipped to find jobs through the vocational training they received. More at Rashid…Noor investments formed a strategic cooperation with the centre and Standard Chartered bank was recently welcomed into the Board of Directors. Indian businessman Mohan Valrani celebrated his 74th birthday for four years in a row at Rashid, he said “It makes me very pleased that God’s will is that I’m still alive with good health all these long years to enjoy the celebration of my birthday with Rashid Centre students who filled my heart with joy”. Asala Nasri visited and was amazed at the ‘Rashid Stars’ dance because although the children are unable to hear they have learned how to harmonize with music through seeing. Rashid Centre announced that the Dubai International Art Symposium 2015 “Colored Tweets” will be held in March 2015, artists from all over the world will come together to transform the humanitarian tweets of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum into paintings. Following which the Rashid Cultural Season will be celebrated in May this year. More events will be celebrated during the months to follow. Rashid Centre for Disabled’s RASHID MAGAZINE updates the reader on past, present and future initiatives at the Centre and tells of the wonderful progress made by the very special children who enjoy learning, growing and challenging themselves at this school.
